So gro\u00df wie es auf der Landkarte wirkt ist es bei weitem nicht. Sein Ortskern, gef\u00fchlte zwanzig H\u00e4user, sicher ein paar mehr, aber insgesamt winzig. Der Bella Coola River weitet sich hier zu einer breiten Bucht, und so kann das F\u00e4hrschiff nach Port Hardy auf Vancouver Island gut anlegen. Das ist wohl auch der wichtigste Grund f\u00fcr die Existenz des Ortes. Allein die Lage ist grandios. Der Fluss und seine M\u00fcndung sind eingebettet von steilen Bergen, die sich rechts und links bis auf 4.000m erheben, nat\u00fcrlich nicht direkt. Das Tal k\u00f6nnte ein Bergtal in den Alpen sein. Man blickt von hier auf viele Gletscher und teils schneebedeckte Berggipfel.<br \/>\nHei\u00df ist es geworden und abends ganz mild, man merkt halt, dass man sich auf Meeresh\u00f6he
